Students at Castle High School follow the Key Stage 3 curriculum for two years. The programme of study is designed to aid transition from Primary School and to introduce students to subjects in which they may choose to specialise at Key Stage 4.
With the wide range of subjects on offer at the end of Key Stage 3, an extensive guidance programme enables students to access courses that are challenging, whilst ensuring they have the opportunities to reach their potential and beyond. The school provides the opportunity to study courses leading to qualifications at both GCSE and BTEC.
The very best effort is made by everyone at the school to ensure all students leave ready and equipped for either work, further education or a training programme of their choice. Additional guidance and support are offered to all students and their families during each year to ensure each individual student's choices are well informed.
The Curriculum is reviewed every year to ensure it meet the needs of our students so providing the best opportunities for all.

The teaching week consists of 30 periods. On entry, students are grouped in ability groups. Flexibility within the timetable allows for movement between sets and amongst subjects to take place throughout the year. This enables students to learn at a pace and level suited to their abilities.
Students requiring additional support are given help as appropriate to their individual needs. This is provided both by members of the Learning Support Team and subject staff in the classroom where possible.
